It's been a week since the Liberal attack ads were released, and the response seems to be... mostly laughter.
Parody after parody marched through the blogosphere this week. In Canada. We're not making this up.
A few of my favorites, reprinted here for my parents who don't read nearly as many blogs as I do but should by no means miss out on the fun:
From Damian Penny, here and here, comes this gem:
Stephen Harper ate at a Tex-Mex place once.
You know what the "Tex" in Tex-Mex stands for?
Texas.
George W. Bush's home state.
And you know who else would have liked Tex-Mex food if he were alive today?
Adolf Hitler.
We're not making this up.
Choose your Canada.
From PomoChristian, with the mad technical skills, this video.
From Civitatensis:
Stephen Harper from Alberta wants to move in to 24 Sussex Dr.
With two small children
theyll spill on the Persian rugs
theyll scratch the Maple hardwood
theyll break the Bohemian crystal
In Ottawa. In Ontario.
Choose your residence.
From Inkless Wells:
Just now at the Subway on Bank St. I was buying my lunch and there... in line... standing in front of me... was a soldier.
In our cities.
In Canada.
A soldier.
He seemed to be ordering the six-inch ham and turkey.
With chipotle sauce.
In Canada.
We're not making this stuff up.
From Brent Colbert, Flash Master, this video (FYI, I have had some trouble playing it with Firefox if the flash blocker is enabled, so don't be surprised if it happens to you to but the video is NOT TO BE MISSED so find a way to make it work! I used a different browser without a flash blocker and it ran fine).
And my absolute favorite, which I have sadly lost the original link (someone let me know if they know where it comes from, I'd love to give accreditation):
If Stephen Harper were a tree, what kind of tree would he be?
A patriotic maple?
A stately oak?
A sprawling yucca?
Yucca trees grow in Texas.
That's where George Bush is from.
Why doesn't Stephen Harper like Canadian trees?
We don't know. He isn't saying.
Enjoy the rest of the election, everyone! I won't likely have much to say from here on out. After I post this I am going to try to head in to the campaign office, then scrutineering at advance polls tonight, I'm going with my aunt to her church group's political discussion tomorrow night (eek! I'm the only Conservative they could find, apparently), doorknocking with Mr. Prentice on Wednesday, and I'm sure a bunch more stuff this week.
Busy, but I am having such a great time! :)
