Two weeks (give or take a week) left and oh, the things I was going to have ready by this point...
Actually, all through the spring and summer I was telling myself I wanted things ready to go by mid-September in case the baby came early (not late-September or the end of September or just as I'm going into labour). I was going to have the nursery set up! And my hospital bag packed! And the baby clothes washed, sorted, and put away! And a freezer full of food!
And how many of those things are done? None!
We do have the change table/dresser set up... the crib is still in its box until we get rid of the double bed that's in there because there just won't be room to maneuver with the crib set up. Hospital bag is empty, and in fact I still need to buy most of what's going in there (some non-natty pyjamas, hollow rolling pin for labour, etc.), though I do have a very cute little going-home outfit for Pinchy. Not that it (or anything else) has been washed yet.
The food is also going very slowly, as I haven't found the time to make anything else since my chili/spaghetti sauce spree. Theoretically, this should be easy as the next things on my list are marinated pork chops and chicken breasts. Make quadruple batches of marinade, toss in ziplocs with pork or chicken, freeze. Easy, right? But then I got it into my head I should wait until the boneless skinless chicken breasts go on sale. And then they were, but I couldn't figure out if it was a good sale or not, so I didn't buy them. Argh! Oh, the self-sabotage!
I'd like to make some other things as well (calzones, some casseroles, maybe some cinnamon buns and scones so I can have some quick lunches on crazy days), but I guess we'll see where I get to before the baby comes. The full moon is next Friday, so I'm hoping that does something to get Pinchy moving. He does feel lower since yesterday... I can finally eat again without feeling like I've had too much after four bites!
