Whew, it's been a while since I've posted. Whoops.
I had the grand intentions to keep on top of the political stuff during the campaign, but it sort of went out the window once I started actually volunteering for my local Conservative candidate. Between that and holiday parties, baking, and shopping, I was pretty busy during December.
After Christmas, I had more time, but now I've been beset by this horrendous sickness all week. It started just before Christmas with a bit of a sore throat... and then progressed into all-out chills, exhaustion, and aches (I felt like I'd been beaten for hours on Boxing Day)... then it went away and I was almost better... and now it's back with a cough, stuffy nose, and sore throat. I think I may have actually had both the flu and a cold. Matt found out in our BC Health Guide that hard candies are no worse than throat lozenges for sore throats, so right now I'm self-medicating with Werther's. Yum.
To add to the rather inauspicious start to the new year, our car broke down at my sister-in-law's house last night. We went over to watch the Flames game and when we came out to go home, the starter was AWOL. We could turn the key and watch current being drained (via an LED on a gizmo plugged into our cigarette lighter), but it would just not start. So Lisa gave us a ride home, and then a ride back for Matt to go scowl at it in the daylight today. They got it going, but I think we'll be headed to a mechanic pretty soon. The car has been doing this every once in awhile recently (not starting), but last night was the first time we couldn't eventually coax it into starting.
There is a local political issue I've been wanting to post on, but I think I'm going to try to get a picture today so I've got "proof" before I say anything. Apparently you can't be too careful what you write about on your blog these days.
